As the weather warms up many people start to have garage sales. It’s a great time to get ride of clutter and start fresh. But what about a garage sale that earns money for your favorite charity or a family in need?
Wouldn’t it be great to raise a bunch of money for your local food bank? A family in the neighborhood going through a difficult time (please ask them ahead of time). Or what about a youth group going on a mission trip?
You can also do this as a community event. See if neighbors or friends are interested in doing the same. Let people know who you are doing this for and they may not need to bargain as much.
If you do this, please make sure to post it and comment here so we can all read about it.
Let’s get in there and start today. Have a cleaning and sorting kind of day

I’ve done that before, when our sale was mostly books. We put up a big sign notifying people that the sale would all benefit the library, and it really seemed to make people more generous and less likely to try and bargain too hard. We raised almost $150 for the library, after taking out the cost of a newspaper ad. It was great!
