I have three recipes for you to try either for yourself or as a gift.  They are great for fall.

Loco For Cocoa

(from Just Calm Down Spa, NYC)

In a warm bath, mix:

  • 1 c. Cocoa Powder (unsweetened)
  • 1 c. powdered milk (to moisturize and exfoliate)
  • One capful of Peppermint extract
  • A sprinkle of Ground Cinnamon

Wouldn’t this be great to give in a basket with all the ingredients?

Apple-Oatmeal Scrub

(from Intermezzo Day Spa in Aruba taken from Women’s Day Magazine))

  • 2 tbsp rolled oats
  • 1 1/2 tsp cornmeal
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1/2 med. apple (cored, peeled, and finly chopped)

Use a fork to mix the cornmeal and oatmeal together (to exfoliate) add honey (to moisturize).  Combine that with the apple in a food processor until well blended.  Spread mixture over face and scrub in a circular motion.  Rinse with warm water and pat face dry.

Sounds like a great spa night with some friends.

Pumpkin Face-Scrub

(from Metamorphosis Day Spa/ Family Circle)

Normal/Dry/Sensative Skin Types

  • 1 generous Tbsp canned or fresh pumpkin
  • 3 tbsp buttermilk (add a pinch of lemon juice to reg milk and let sit for 5 min if you don’t have buttermilk).  If skin is oily use plain yogurt instead of the buttermilk.

Mix those together and add:

  • 1 tsp honey
  • some finely ground almonds

With fingertips, massage into face.   Leave on for 5 min. then rinse well.  Finish with a moisturizer.

One final gift idea I have is to take a list of the top drug store beauty finds, that you see in magazines, and give some/all the products on the list to a teenage girl (wrap them individually for even more fun).

Have a blessed day and don’t forget to add any recipes or ideas you have!

Debbie
