Day 10

Today is an early one.  We have to be downtown in the morning to help at the local Rescue Mission.  This is an organization that assists with the homeless and poor.  They help provide food, basic necessities, ETC!!!  We are unable to serve food with the kids as some of the individuals can’t be around children so we are going to help wrap gifts and decorate the facilities.

We took our bagged goodies around to the neighborhood.  It was a cold night, for Arizona.  A very nice change to be bundled up while pulling our wagon of goodies along.  Even the dog had a bow on for the festivities (Yes, he was humiliated …anyone know a good pet psychiatrist?)

I really miss being in a small town and this made me feel a little more connected.  I know most of my immediate neighbors but not the ones a little further away.  Most people were very sweet and talkative.

About half of our neighbors were not home.  We didn’t want to leave goodies in case they were gone for the holidays so we took them around the corner.  We were able to talk to people we’ve only seen but haven’t meant before.  One family use to go to our Church and left when the former Pastor moved on.  Maybe they will come back to church now that they know a new Pastor is there.

We ran out at the end and had to run home and get another package put together.  We hope they enjoy the goodies!

Merry Christmas!
