Please tell me you don’t fall for the scam, do you?  You know the over priced chicken at the store labeled boneless skinless chicken breasts.  High way robbery!  I know, I know, you found a sale.  But I have to tell you keep that skin and bones.

You want proof:

1) Bake the whole chicken or just the chicken breasts with skin and bones and you will save cash first and formost.  For great fall off the bone chicken, take them and throw them in a casserole dish, cover with broth-homemade and covered in foil,  bake at 325 degrees for about 2 hours or until the temp gets to about 175.  YUMMY!

2) Now you will have bones to make our own chicken broth.  EASY!  Take parts of veggies that were gonna go (tops of washed carrots and celery, etc), throw in the bones and such, fill with seasonings and water and tada you have your own broth.  The broth is perfect in the freezer for when you need it.

3) Finally, you have better tasting chicken and you saved some cashola!  The skin helps protect you from the dredded dry chicken dinners we all know about.

So, just say no to boneless, skinless chicken and reach for the cheap pack.  I guarantee, money back, that this is super easy!

Have a “Skin and Bones” Day!

Don’t try to return the chicken breasts that you already have in the fridge.  Supermarkets don’t do well with returns 🙂 hahahaha.  Use them up and say goodbye!

This past weekend I had a party for friends to come and bring items they wanted to trade (no not children) for a swapping party.  It was a smaller turnout but I had a great time and got some great goodies.  Even though we were different sizes we all had different size clothing to trade.  Some people have lost or gained weight and need to get rid of things.  We also traded home decor, lotions/soaps (new), books/magazines, games/toys, etc!

I can’t tell you how much fun it was and plus I got about 15-30 items for FREE!  I love that!

So gather your friends over and start swapping!  Plus you have people to tell give you opinions on how things look.

Have a “Reuse” Day!

We have a small 1970’s tent trailer that we camp in.  It works for us, but it has a lot of work that needs to be done.  We do little bits at a time and have replaced some things in it.

Recently we took the trailer camping.  We had showers at the campsite, but no place to put our towels.  I asked hubby if we could get some of those adhesive hooks for our towels.

He said “Those are like a dollar a piece”.

Ok, so there are four of us that’s a wopping $4.  I know we have been hit by the economy (losing about a third of our income) but still $4?

Last night, hubby proudly shows his deal.  He found a package of two on clearance at the autoparts store.  Two for 68 cents!  And the oil for our car was on sale.  He was a “happy camper”!

I have taught him well.  🙂

Have a “Frugal” Day!

Well maybe.  Have you checked the state for unclaimed $$$?  Go here if you haven’t:

Have a “Rich” Day!

And guess what, if you live in America, have a family, eat everyday, know the Lord, got a hug, have friends, etc you are rich my friend!

Today is my 1st year blogging anniversary.  I have really enjoyed meeting so many wonderful people and getting a chance to just to get some of this stuff out of my head. 🙂

I would like to share 5 goals for this next year:

  • Get a customized page/website.
  • See if I need to focus on the direction of the blog a little more.?.?.?
  • Learn more about the technical side of blogging
  • Discover ways to advertise on my blog
  • Finally, have as much fun as I am but keep a budget of time on it

So, if you have any words of wisdom in any of these areas, I would appreciate your comment as a blogiversary present.  Now, you wouldn’t withhold a present on my anniversary would you?  🙂

Two more things I have to add:

– Happy Fall, for those fortunate enough to actually have a fall.  Last night, during the weather, the weather person said, and I quote, “We are continuing to cool off.  The change of season is upon us.  Today the high for Phoenix was 101.  Currently it’s 93 degrees (at 9:55 pm).”  Also in the forecast was temps 102 and 103..yippee!!!  And to top it off they had the little fall leaves on today for the 7 day forecast.  I think I will get my jacket out.  It is feeling a bit nippy outside.

– As some of you are aware we are doing some work on our house.  In the process, we have a rocking chair that I am waiting to put elsewhere.  So it’s just kind of hanging around, in a very ackward place, in our family room.  My oldest has been enjoying it there so I asked him if he realized it is not going to be there for long.    In his interior design mode he said “WHAT?”  Given the fact that I think it’s very obvious it doesn’t belong I thought everyone was on the same page.  Guess not.

Have a “Helpful” Day!

Debbie aka The Real World Martha(S)

I am a big fan of thrift stores.  But I don’t mind that it’s not for everyone as that leaves more good stuff for me 🙂

So I had to get out of the house and thankfully Goodwill had a 50% off sale.  Could it get any better?

Now usually I don’t drop down that much $$ but I am starting to think of the holidays and we are doing some renovations to the house.  I also couldn’t resist the good deals on clothes, although couldn’t find much for hubby this time around.  And I got a mess of books, magazines, and homeschool materials.

Here are the goods:

And I’m not even sure I got it all.  I think a few books were left out.  I was very happy with my purchases and can’t wait to get started using a lot of them for gifts for Christmas.  You will see in coming posts some of the gifts that can be made.

Have a “Bargain Shopping” Day!  🙂
