home school

My “Little One”, who is in 2nd grade, wrote this, and I just have to share it.  I must warn you; it’s super cute!  And also not up for publication.  This is copyrighted!

I like Ants.

Ants crawl on my pants.

Ants are fun.

Ants can run.

I like to play with ants.

Sometimes I see them dance.

Doesn’t that make you just want to squeeze the stuffing’s out of him?

Have a “Poetic” Day!

So it’s been almost a month.  I am a bad blogger.  With the holidays and learning a new camera I have been a bad girl.

I will do a little run down for you:

– Our 12 days of Christmas was a great success.  We were able to help lots of people and have fun.  Our run down included: Helping a friend in need, donating toys, making cards for Veterans, helping at a Senior center, Salvation Army Angel Tree, wrapping presents for prison fellowship, helping scavenger hunt, random acts of kindness, cookies to those who work on Christmas, neighborhood trash cleanup.

– We had an amazing Christmas.  And as a bonus I get the Wii Fit which I am so thrilled about.  Boy that thing can work ya!

-I couldn’t stay up for New Years Eve of course.  I am very sleepy lately.

– I am still wondering about homeschooling and everyday I go back and forth.  Heck moment by moment.

– Our little one is having a tough time and it’s been such a challenge to get him the help he needs.  Last night we told me he is still trying to figure out if we are a nice family.  Did I mention it’s been 5 years next month?

Well that’s a little bit of what’s been going on around here.  I am still trying to get my picture thing resolved and that has been a big reason why I have been absent.  I love to add me some pics.  I promise to be more faithful!

Have a “Promising” Day!

This weekend we will be off to Disneyland.  Since we just got back from a trip you must be thinking..what?

Well it’s my mother-in-law’s birthday and they have paid for us to come over and share the weekend with her.  Isn’t that such a tremendous blessing?  We are super excited!!!

I am really having a hard time living in the city.  Have you ever lived somewhere that you really connected to?  I did.  It was Oregon.  I miss it terribly.

Last night I was looking at a country type magazine, that I got at Goodwill, and hubby was watching some datelineish special on the super rich and all their privilege.  I am not jealous of that.  I really am not.  I like to buy things (esp clothes) but I don’t like a lot of fancy things.  I was busy tearing out the chicken coop that I want.

Now coveting doesn’t matter if you want expensive or not.  It just matters that you want something that you don’t have.  I don’t have the lifestyle that I want, and I am struggling.  I want my craftsman style home in a small town with my little retail shop and throw in a nice church and I am one step from heaven.  Did I mention some chickens?

Well Arizona is not my cup of tea, so those who feel like saying a little prayer, I would appreciate it.  I have struggled with this the whole time I have live here and it hasn’t gotten any better.

The kids and I are still muttering our way through homeschooling.  Some days are better than others.  We are plugging away.  It’s tough to switch gears from teacher to Mom and to get anything done around the house.  🙂

I just have to say that for those of you that have stuck with me through this blogging adventure, I am so greatful.  It’s so nice to have the comments from you all.  I really enjoy the friendship, even though we can’t all get together for lunch.  But I am open if you are. 🙂

Have a “Blessed” Day!

Debbie aka The Real World Martha(S)

I am a big fan of thrift stores.  But I don’t mind that it’s not for everyone as that leaves more good stuff for me 🙂

So I had to get out of the house and thankfully Goodwill had a 50% off sale.  Could it get any better?

Now usually I don’t drop down that much $$ but I am starting to think of the holidays and we are doing some renovations to the house.  I also couldn’t resist the good deals on clothes, although couldn’t find much for hubby this time around.  And I got a mess of books, magazines, and homeschool materials.

Here are the goods:

And I’m not even sure I got it all.  I think a few books were left out.  I was very happy with my purchases and can’t wait to get started using a lot of them for gifts for Christmas.  You will see in coming posts some of the gifts that can be made.

Have a “Bargain Shopping” Day!  🙂

Today is our first day with our new online school.  It’s part homeschool and part charter.  Since we are still waiting for some of our books to arrive, we did our own thing.  I AM TIRED 🙂

I have a 6th and 2nd grader and have total respect for anyone who does this with more.

We did some math, art, PE, science, language arts, and anything else I am forgetting.

We learned that the Pilgrims may have had popcorn (not sure how) for the first Thanksgiving so we popped some in the microwave.  If you want to try this, take some paper bags and some kernels.  Put a handful of kernels in the bag and fold the top down a few times.  Stop the microwave when the popping starts to slow down.  You can then add any flavorings you want or leave it natural for a healthy snack.

Is tomorrow school too?

Have a “Learning” Day.

In the past I use to email back to anyone who would write a comment.  It’s been a fun way to build some friendships and such.  I know some people comment back on their own site.  I would be curious to here what you all do.  So you can leave me a comment letting me know what you do.

But for me, as we approach the new school year, ours starts on Aug 11, I have come to realize I will not be able to email everyone back anymore.  I will try and comment here so you can see.  If you, or I, have something that should be held in private I will not comment here but by email when I can.

Please be patient with me.  Adjusting to homeschooling the two boys is going to be big for me (I think).

Have a “Learning” Day!
